Talkeetna

Located in the Matanuska-Susita Borough in Alaska, Talkeeta is a frontier village that is a tourist destination used by the cruise ship industry to show what a frontier village looked like.

Most of the buildings are relics of a small village of the past containing eateries, gift shops, and a general/liquor store.

Aurora Dora

One shop you must visit in this village is Aurora Dora (Dora Redman), a nationally recognized photographer known for taking photos of the aurora borealis (Northern Lights).

While none of her work can be displayed on this website, her work is displayed in the tiny shop in both paper and aluminum. She tells the story of every piece that is displayed on the wall.
